White widow’s wisdom for good wifery

An overview of Oakpark Apartments where Samantha Lewthwaite (inset) resided while living in Nairobi. While on the run from the world’s intelligence agents, the white widow found time to make notes of her wisdom for how a woman should behave and act as well as outlining traits that would endear her to her husband and keep him home.

What does the world most wanted woman do while on the run? Does she burrow into a tunnel and stay underground until it is time to strike?
Does a jihadist with at least three small children have a work-life balance? How does she juggle between her cause and her family?
According to Sunday Times, Samantha Lewthwaite, also known as the white widow, suspected to have masterminded terror attacks that claimed many lives including the attack on Westgate shopping mall in September 2013 kept quite busy.
While on the run from the world’s intelligence agents, the white widow found time to make notes of her wisdom for how a woman should behave and act as well as outlining traits that would endear her to her husband and keep him home.
She also wrote children stories with instruction on Muslim faith that was dedicated to her two elder children, who the diary reveals attended school while she stayed home to put her thoughts to paper.
The Sunday Times published pages from a diary, which it has exclusive rights to, allegedly belonging to Samantha that was found in one of her previous residences. The diary reveals another side to the battle-hardened jihadist who has been on the run with her small children.

According to pictures of the diary pages as carried by The Sunday Times, she outlines business plans that provide lifestyle solutions especially for women.
Her proposed businesses included ‘pregisize’, a fitness programme that would help pregnant women stay fit during what she terms a spiritual journey. The programme would include aerobic exercises and muscle toning that would be 100% safe.
“Pregnancy is not a time to slack on fitness. You need to prepare the body for the marathon ahead- LABOUR. Let us help you to maintain a healthy body and mind during this spiritual journey.”
She also acknowledges that good nutrition is key. As part of the ‘pregisize’ regimen, women too would be instructed on good nutrition.
Another page in her diary outlines plans to start a juice bar with recipes for various smoothies and froyo (frozen yogurt) she planned to offer for Ksh.100 per scoop or Ksh.300 for 4 scoops.
The smoothies were to bear fancy names such as ‘lemon breeze’, ‘mango bang’ and ‘peanut butter bomb’. They were billed slimming smoothies. Other flavours are ‘wake up and shake’ and ‘hydration heaven’ whose constitution is unclear.
The juice bars would be located in Mombasa and Nairobi.
The business plan according to pictures of the diary pages as carried by The Sunday Times proposed that these drinks would be themselves colourful and beautiful packaged in colourful take-away cups and possibly featuring a cute umbrella. These are illustrated in the diary featuring an abundance of little, red love hearts.
In the diary too, she offers women tips to staying happily married. She recommends that women should look beautiful, keep their children clean and meet their men at the door with a smile.
According to the article in the paper, an entry titled “The Art of saying sorry” Women too are advised “not to be stubborn.” They are be thrifty in their housekeeping as a good wife “protects her hubby’s money.”
With an outstanding warrant for her arrest issued by Interpol in relation to the suspicion that she is a key financier and logician for terrorist groups planning mass murders, Samantha has managed to evade capture and still remains at large.
